Record catches have taken a step forward with version 0.16 It's now possible to view specific information on a record catch, plus general catch details for different species of fish.
There is a lot to describe all of this, too much for this blog in fact. Most of it is pretty self-explanatory, so should be easy to follow without instruction.
By selecting a fish from your record catch list and clicking More info you will get a screen like above appear. This shows you detailed information on the record catch selected.
The catches button will bring up specific information showing how different species have been caught. The information shown depends on whether you are looking at personal records or venue records. The screen that is seen on the left, shows the information available.
If you are looking at personal records, this will show details relating to catches of the selected species by the current angler on all venues.
If you are looking at venue records, this will show details relating to catches of the selected species on the venue.
There is masses of information available on catches, for example, if you wanted to find out what time of day you catch the most carp on a venue, this can easily be found out now. The choice as to whether or not you want to go into this much detail about catches is down to the individual, it may be you're just interested in seeing the record fish you have, in which case, there isn't a need to venture further past the screen listing the records.

Loosefeed
Loose-feeding has now been implemented fully. It is activated by pressing the 'L' key ( but this can be defined to any other ). The screen below ( click to enlarge ), shows what comes next.
You control the feed arrow ( positioned by the base of the rods ) with the mouse, as well as the power. Pulling the mouse towards you increases the power ( like pulling a catapult back ), and pushing it forward decreases the power. The red bar in the bottom right shows the power amount.
Moving the mouse right and left rotates the direction feed arrow to allow you to aim the feed.
There is an option setting to give feed guidance, which show the trajectory the feed will travel after you click the left mouse button to fire. The trajectory assumes no wind is present so will never give an accurate reading.
The screen to the left shows what happens after the catapult is fired. In this instance you can see a handful of corn flying on its way out hopefully to the desired spot, a lot depends on the wind and type of bait being fired out though.

The tackle selection is now complete for :
- Rods
- Reels
- Line
- Hooks
- Weights
- Detectors
- Floats
There is now a new download available on www.fishsim.net/casetup.exe ( 2.7 Mb ) This new download includes tackle selection and bait preparation. There are
- 3 floats
- 3 weights
- 2 rods
- 3 reels
- 2 lines
- 2 hook types
- 2 detectors
- and some pilchard flavouring
To change the bait on a rod, reel in the rod so that the bait is out of the water and press C
There are fish in the pegs, although you can't reel them in just yet, it will pop up a box saying what you would of hooked. Bear in mind the fish are not set up properly making them extremely difficult to catch, however using a worm on the float rod should get some perch close in by reeds.
Good luck..

Welcome to the Compleat Angler blog
Welcome to the Compleat Angler blog.
This blog has been created to allow readers access to daily information on the development of the game, including :
Compleat Angler is an expandable course, game and sea fishing simulator where the angler begins an endless journey back in the 18th century and fishes all the way to the present day and beyond. The angler starts with basic "old fashioned" tackle which (s)he uses to complete various tasks which closely follow Izaak Waltons infamous book. As more tasks are completed and fish are caught the player advances and is awarded later and more modern tackle and baits. As well as this new locations to fish and species of fish to catch are made available. Eventually the player will be right up to date with modern ledger gear including bite alarms.
There is of course an external competitive side also, where players can compete against each other in organised matches against each other. There is also an inbuilt global record catch system where players can send in there fish and catches to see who has the biggest. For players who just want to fish for fun, there is also an online option where anglers can come together over the Internet to catch fish.
Over the course of the next few weeks there will a lot more posts and information about Compleat Angler on this blog.
